Three held after woman hit by car

Three people have been arrested after a woman was badly injured when she was struck by a car on Teesside.

Police said a fight involving several people broke out in Grainger Street in Hartlepool on Friday night.

Minutes after the altercation a 66-year-old woman was knocked down in the same street by a red Mercedes.

The woman is in hospital in a stable but serious condition. Police are questioning three people and have appealed for witnesses.
