Man has surgery following attack

A man has undergone surgery after being attacked in a street on Teesside.

The 27-year-old was approached by two men in Middlesbrough who demanded his mobile phone.

When he refused he was punched in the face and when he went to hospital the following day doctors discovered he had a broken jaw and needed surgery.

Police have only just released details of the incident which happened at the junction of Garnet Street and Ruby Street on Monday.
