A man who stopped to help a motorist whose car had broken down by the side of a Teesside road has died after he was hit by another vehicle.

Both cars were stationary on Wolviston Road in Billingham when a third car collided with them on Friday night.

The 66-year-old, whose name has not yet been released, suffered serious injuries and died in hospital the following day.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
