Work starts on new road scheme

Work on a new road to aid regeneration off the A66 in north Middlesbrough is set to start on Monday.

A new route from the Newport roundabout to Riverside Park industrial estate is to be built to ease congestion at Hartington Interchange.

The work will also include the widening of the A66 in both directions between the A19 and Newport interchanges.

During the 30 week scheme a single lane closure with a 30mph speed limit will be in place on the A66.

The £15.4m scheme is being funded by the Department for Transport and Middlesbrough Council.
