Gavin Robinson
Mr Robinson died in Middlesbrough's James Cook hospital

The mother of a man who died after being attacked on a Teesside street has paid tribute to her "decent, hard-working son".

Gavin Robinson, 30, was assaulted on Westbury Street, Thornaby, on 14 June and died in hospital on Monday.

His mother Brenda Watson said the whole family, including Mr Robinson's partner Lesley, were "absolutely devastated".

A 23-year-old man was due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Tuesday, charged with causing GBH.

Mr Robinson, of Derby Terrace in Thornaby, was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees following the attack.

He was then transferred to Middlesbrough's James Cook University Hospital, where he died.
