Minister will open campus centre

A £10m addition to Teesside University is to be officially opened on Friday.

The Athena Centre for Creative Technologies in Middlesbrough, is being used for art, media, design, and computing studies.

Universities Secretary John Denham will perform the opening ceremony at the site, on the corner of the town's Southfield Road and Woodlands Road.

The centre features a newsroom, broadcast news studios and multimedia publishing studios and workshops.

Mr Denham said: "This innovative centre will unlock talent in the North East, by providing a high-tech environment in which students can gain the knowledge and expertise for crucial jobs in the creative industries."
