Fine for buying booze for child

A teenager has been fined £80 for buying alcohol for a child from an off-licence in Teesside.

Staff at the shop in Stockton Road, Hartlepool, turned away a 14-year-old girl trying to buy alcohol on Tuesday.

She then asked an 18-year-old woman to buy the alcohol, four litres of cider, from the same shop.

The woman was later cautioned and fined for supplying alcohol to a minor. The 14-year-old was given an anti-social behaviour order (ASBO).
