Arrests as dog sniffs out drugs
Revellers on Teesside were interrupted on Saturday night when police used a sniffer dog to hunt out drugs.

Seven people were arrested when seven licensed premises were visited across Stockton, Billingham and Thornaby.

Two men and a woman were held on drugs offences as officers recovered ecstasy, cocaine and amphetamines.

Another man was charged for possession of a weapon and two men were fined 80 for public order offences. Police also held a man wanted over an assault.

Insp Tony Rock, from Stockton neighbourhood police, said: "Although seven people were arrested, only three were found to be in possession of a controlled drug.

"I hope the message is getting through that we will not tolerate drug use."

In a similar operation last week, police recovered cocaine, amphetamine and cannabis.

Fifteen people were arrested and bailed pending further inquiries.
