Farm shop raiders slaughter birds
Police are investigating after 25 chickens were found decapitated at a farm shop on Teesside.

The incident happened at the Maryfield Farm Shop in Acklam Road, Thornaby, over the weekend.

Cleveland Police said those responsible forced their way into a locked shed to get at the birds.

A force spokeswoman said the owner had reported previous incidents of theft of birds, but had been left shocked by the latest attack.

An appeal for witnesses has been made.
