The scheme will help boost the self confidence of cadets
Teenagers on Teesside are being given an opportunity to sample life in the force by joining up as police cadets.

Cleveland Police is setting up the scheme aimed at 16 to 19-year-olds interested in a policing career.

The scheme is also aimed at those who want to be responsible citizens, or build their self esteem and confidence.

The young recruits will also be able to work towards qualifications. A junior scheme for 12 and 13-year-olds is planned for the future.

Cleveland Police Authority's Community Protection Panel chairwoman, Pam Andrews-Mawer, said: "We see this as a really important part of our efforts to ensure that the force and the authority have a close involvement with the whole community."
