Care homes receive £250,000 boost
Council Care homes on Teesside have been awarded a share of £225,000 to be spent on refurbishment work.

Thirty-one homes in Redcar and Cleveland have received grants ranging from £5,000 to £14,000.

The improvements will go towards upgrading bedrooms and bathrooms, bingo machines, sensory gardens and providing internet access for residents.

Redcar and Cleveland Council awarded the money as part of the Department of Health's Dignity in Care scheme.

The Council's cabinet member for health and social well being, Helen McLuckie, said: "I know how important it is for people living in care homes to have an environment they are happy in and that they are proud to call home."
