Police on Teesside have traced the owner of a dog which attacked a three-year-old boy, leaving him needing emergency treatment.

Mackenzie Harvey suffered arm injuries after being bitten by a Japanese Akita - a breed often used as guard dogs - in Coulby Newham, near Redcar.

It happened while he was playing outside on Tuesday afternoon.

The dog was later captured and the owner traced on Thursday. Police say inquiries are continuing.

Mackenzie suffered a broken arm, and is recovering at home.
