Suspicious death of girl aged 16

The body of a teenage girl who had suffered severe injuries has been found in a house on Teesside.

Police were called to a house in Troutpool Close on Hartlepool's Central Estate shortly before midday on Friday.

The 16-year-old was found in a downstairs room. Police say they are treating her death as suspicious.

Forensic science experts are at the house and a Home Office pathologist was due to carry out a post-mortem examination later on Friday.

Cleveland Police said they were hoping to speak to anyone who was in the Troutpool Close area between 1800 BST on Thursday and midday on Friday.
