A Victorian seaside attraction is to be bathed in light from dusk until midnight following a switching on ceremony on Thursday evening.
Saltburn Pier will be illuminated from dusk to midnight
Saltburn Pier and amusement arcade will be floodlit and there will be coloured lighting on the tracks of the nearby cliff lift.
It is part of a £750,000 refurbishment to the pier and upper promenade.
This includes the installation of a ramp for wheelchairs and pushchairs and new seating, railings and surfacing.
Further lighting projects are planned by Redcar and Cleveland Council at key sites based on architectural merit and historical location.
Councillor Vera Moody, cabinet member for economic development, said: "This is an excellent regeneration scheme for the council and will be the start of further illuminating lighting projects throughout the rest of the borough, subject to further funding being secured.
"They will boost trade for local businesses by attracting more tourists to our key location schemes."
