Probe into town scrap yard blaze
Police and fire investigators are trying to discover the cause of a major fire on Teesside.

The blaze, at Thomlinson's scrap yard in Hartlepool, was described by Cleveland Police as one of the largest ever in the town.

At the height of the fire on Saturday afternoon, nearby residents were urged to remain in their homes.

No-one was hurt in the incident, which was confined to scrap metal. A cause for the blaze has yet to be determined.

Police said smoke could be seen as far away as Redcar.

At one point, eight fire appliances were tackling the blaze.
