A man has died after being swept away by massive waves on Teesside.
Stewart Simpson, 41, of Kirkstone Grove in Redcar is believed to have been fishing when he fell into rough seas off the South Gare on Sunday afternoon.
The Redcar and Teesmouth lifeboats, a police helicopter and an RAF Sea King helicopter took part in the search.
Mr Simpson was found by police officers near to the shore and flown by helicopter to the James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough where he later died.
