People living on a Teesside estate have received unpleasant letters demanding they remove their "common and tacky" outdoor Christmas decorations.
The sender signs off as 'The House Doctor'
The letters, signed "The House Doctor", have been sent to several households on the Mickledales estate in Redcar.
One house is described as looking like "a cross between a bingo house and a brothel at Christmas".
Residents say they are shocked and disgusted and have no idea who could have sent them.
'Common and cheap'
Linda Leech who owns a detached house on the estate was one of those whose taste in decorations was criticised.
A letter sent to her home said: "I would expect more taste from you.
"I have never seen anything as tacky, common, cheap, pound shop in my whole life."
Ms Leech said: "When I first received a letter I thought it was a prank, someone having a joke, but when I realised other people in the close had received them I thought it wasn't very funny after all.
"Initially I was going to put up more, but now I'm not going to, though I will still keep switching them on at night."
