Man in court over woman's murder

Police say Sarah Jane Coughlan died from stab wounds

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 19-year-old woman on Teesside.

George Henrich Leigers, 46, was remanded in custody by Teesside magistrates until the 21 August.

Detectives say Sarah Jane Coughlan worked as a prostitute in Middlesbrough.

She was found dead in a house in Montrose Street on Monday.

Police broke into the house at 1000 BST on Monday and found the teenager's body.

Ms Coughlan, from Corporation Road, had been stabbed.
