Man found dead in Sussex mental health hospital toilets

A man has been found dead in the toilets of a public area in a mental health hospital in Sussex.

His body was discovered by staff at Millview Hospital in Hove on Sunday.

The Sussex Partnership NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said the man was known to workers. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed.

A spokesperson said the circumstances surrounding the incident were being investigated. The death is the fifth at hospitals run by the trust.

John Blair, 40, was found hanging at the Woodlands mental health unit in Hastings in October 2009, while Sgt Richard Bexhell, 49, was discovered hanged at the unit earlier that year, in August.

Susanna Anley, 35, died at the Woodlands unit in April 2008, and Michael Stevens, 53, from Lancing, died after he was found hanged in his room at the Meadowfield unit in Worthing.
