Offensive Sussex graffiti vandal sought

A vandal has caused thousands of pounds worth of damage by spray painting more than 50 "offensive" images of male genitals in Sussex.

Adur District Council and Sussex Police have appealed for help to catch the culprit who targeted walls in Goring-by-sea and Durrington.

The paint, which is removed within 24 hours of being reported, has so far cost more than £1,000 to clean up.

Residents have been urged to report any further incidents.

'Deliberately offensive'

Mike Barnard of the Adur and Worthing Safer Communities Partnership said: "These images were deliberately placed where they would offend as many people as possible.

"They have cost you and I, the taxpayers, at least £1,000 so far to clean up. I would urge anyone with information to contact Sussex Police."

Pc Lee Scott of Sussex Police said: "The police and councils are working together to prevent defacement like this from re-occurring.

"Our joint efforts over the last year have led to several successful prosecutions and we are determined to bring the person behind this latest series to justice."
