Airshow breaks fundraising record

Mirage 500
Shoreham Airshow celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2009

A popular airshow in Sussex has broken records for raising funds for The Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA).

The Shoreham Airshow made almost £160,000 last year for RAFA, a charity that supports members and former members of the Royal Air Force.

This year's event will mark the Battle of Britain and the centenary of Shoreham Airport - the oldest in the country.

The airshow grew from a small fete over 20 years ago.

Air show organiser Don Bean MBE said: "I am delighted to be able to hand over this amount to RAFA.

"A lot of effort by the team at Shoreham has made this possible."
