Man injured in hit-and-run crash

An elderly pedestrian is in hospital after being injured in a hit-and-run crash in East Sussex.

Police said the 89-year-old man suffered a broken hip in the incident in Moat Croft Road, Eastbourne.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the car that hit the man failed to stop on Wednesday morning.

Officers have appealed to the driver to come forward and anyone who saw what happened. The crash at 1130 GMT was near the Upperton Road junction.

The injured man was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.
