Manslaughter charge man in court

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the manslaughter of a 70-year-old woman who was hit by a car.

Leonard John Jones, 26, of Rhodes Way, Crawley, who appeared at Crawley magistrates on Wednesday, also faces two charges of dangerous driving.

Pedestrian Joanna Hakesley, of Copthorne, was injured in the crash on 28 October and died later in hospital.

Mr Jones was remanded to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 20 November.
