Charges follow hit-and-run death

A 26-year-old man has been charged with the manslaughter of an elderly woman who was hit by a car in Sussex.

Leonard John Jones, of Rhodes Way, Crawley, is also facing two charges of dangerous driving, a Sussex Police spokesperson said.

Pedestrian Joanna Hakesley, 70, of Bramble Close, Copthorne, was injured in the crash on 28 October in Copthorne and died later in hospital.

Mr Jones is due to appear before magistrates in Crawley on Wednesday.
