Inquiries are under way into the causes of five farm fires in Sussex within a few hours to see if they are linked.

Firefighters were called to the incidents on farms in Cuckfield, as well as Scaynes Hill near Haywards Heath and two farms in Fletching.

A fifth barn fire was put out in Newick, fire officials said.

All were reported within a two and a half hour period on Tuesday evening. Fire investigators are at the scenes and police are also investigating.

No-one was reported hurt in the incidents.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue said investigations into the causes will be co-ordinated with their colleagues in the east of the county.
