Historic Sussex without the trees

Chelwood Gate without trees
The images will focus on the area surrounding the High Weald.

Historic images of the Sussex landscape have been produced to give an insight into the county's past.

The pictures will strip away trees and vegetation by taking aerial scans from planes and then creating computer-generated images of the landscape.

The images are being produced as part of the Historic Environment Awareness project, led by East Sussex County Council's archaeology section.

The project will focus on the area surrounding the High Weald.

The scheme is part funded by English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The High Weald is recognised by its designation as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
