Crackdown sees 125 riders charged

A total of 125 motorcyclists, including two travelling at 130mph, have been prosecuted for motoring offences following a crackdown by Sussex Police.

Another rider was doing 117mph and a fourth travelling at 110mph was stopped during the two-day initiative.

Other motorcyclists were prosecuted for riding without vehicle insurance.

The aim of the initiative, the second carried out by Sussex Police with help from officers in Hampshire, was to reduce serious accidents.

Insp Marc Clothier said: "Although there were fewer people caught committing offences than there were in May, it's still disappointing to see that so many are willing to break the law, putting their own lives at risk together with other motorists.

"This is an ongoing operation throughout the summer months which is aimed at tackling anti-social riding to reduce the number of motorcyclists killed and seriously injured, and to reassure the residents and other road users within Sussex."
