A pedestrian is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a van in East Sussex.

Emergency teams were called to the accident in Hailsham Road, Heathfield, just before 1900 BST on Friday, Sussex Police said.

The collision, near the Runt In Tun pub, involved a Renault van, a spokesman for the force said.

He said the pedestrian, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with serious injuries.
