Two men who robbed a jewellery shop in West Sussex were tackled by a passer-by as they fled the scene on a motorbike.

The suspects, wearing crash helmets and dark clothing, stole several watches in the raid on the Perfect Timing shop in North Pallant, Chichester, on Tuesday.

The male shopper tried to stop them as they escaped, causing the registration plate on their bike to fall off.

During the struggle the offenders also dropped watches, along with a single canvas plimsoll worn by one of them.

Both males then sped off on the motorbike, turning right into East Street.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery, just before 1700 BST, or has knowledge of the bike owner, is asked to contact police.
