The local authority said Brighton, like any other city, was short of parking
Two parking spaces are on the market in Brighton for between £20,000 and £30,000, with estate agents confident of reaching their asking price.
One of the parking plots - an extended piece of pavement - sold for £25,000 three years ago and is now back on the market for £27,500.
Estate agent Stephen Simmonds said the spaces were sought after and usually went very quickly.
He said: "The parking in Brighton is abysmal and is getting worse."
Mr Simmonds added: "People are looking for secure parking, similar to this one, or the one further up the street there, again it's off-road, so you don't get the vandals vandalising your car going home from the pubs at night."
The local authority said Brighton, like any other major city, had a shortage of parking spaces.
"However our residents' parking permit system gives everyone a reasonable chance of getting a parking space near to their homes," said a spokeswoman for Brighton and Hove City Council.
She said: "As part of our reviews of residents' parking in the city, especially where demand for parking is highest, we look at demand and are open to amending the system if it would bring greater benefit to residents and businesses."
