Plans for the incinerator were given conditional approval last year

A draft plan for a riverside park linked to a controversial waste incinerator in East Sussex has been drawn up by the county council.
The 28 hectare site beside the River Ouse, on the northern edge of Newhaven, includes a disused tip, a recreation ground and assorted wetlands.
The new park will be sited near the Veolia incinerator currently under construction at North Quay.
Plans include new sports pitches, a BMX track and new wetlands.
The northern two thirds of the park site is owned by the county council, while the remaining section is owned by Lewes District Council.
The council said the intention was to provide a new park for the town and a gateway to the proposed South Downs National Park.
"This masterplan has been informed by public consultations with local people," said a county council spokesman.
"These are only initial ideas for discussion, which will go on for public consultation."
