Man sentenced over kidnap attempt

A man found guilty of attempting to kidnap a 31-year-old woman when she was drunk has been sentenced to a six-month residential curfew.

John Kinney, 61, of Marine Parade, Brighton, had denied the charge, but was convicted on 7 November 2008 following a trial at Hove Crown Court.

The court heard the abduction attempt in Western Road, Hove on 1 June was foiled when a couple intervened.

Kinney was described as a "very dangerous man" by Sussex Police.
