Man in court over student's death

A man has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of a Qatari language student in a suspected racially-motivated attack.

George Austin, 21, of no fixed address in Bermondsey, south London is charged with killing Mohammed Al-Majed, 16, in Hastings, East Sussex, in August.

Mr Al-Majed died in hospital from injuries received outside a takeaway.

Mr Austin was remanded in custody by Lewes Crown Court until a plea and case management hearing on 13 February.

Two other men have also been charged in connection with Mr Al-Majed's death.
