Police in Sussex have named a man they are trying to trace in connection with several burglaries.

Sussex Police want to speak to Jon Shea, 58, about break-ins in the Chichester, Bognor, Shoreham and Brighton areas.

A spokesperson for the force said they believe he may have information that is "vital to the on-going enquiries".

Mr Shea, who is originally from Ireland and speaks with a strong accent, has lived in many parts of the UK.

Detectives in Chichester, West Sussex, are hoping to speak to him about two burglaries in April and July.

Several valuable items including antiques were stolen from a house in Slipper Road, Southbourne on 9 April and a house in Southbrook Road, West Ashling was raided on 15 July.

Det Con Kim Clinch, from Chichester CID, said officers had been "actively" following up inquiries to trace the offender or offenders.

She said: "We would like to find Mr Shea to speak to him in relation to these offences together with others that have happened in the Chichester, Bognor, Shoreham and Brighton areas as he may have information that is vital to the on-going inquiries.

"We would urge him - or anyone who knows of his whereabouts - to contact police."
