Man who died after row is named

A 75-year-old man who died following a row with a couple who appeared to be fitness training near cliffs in East Sussex has been named by police.

Donald Batts was a passenger in a car which was being driven from his home in Smugglers' Way, Fairlight, at about 1245 GMT on 13 November.

Following an altercation with a man and a woman he was driven away, but became unwell and died later in hospital.

The couple were arrested. One was bailed and one freed without charge.

Sussex Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A police spokeswoman said there had not been any anti-social or disorderly behaviour in the area prior to Mr Batts and the athletes talking to each other.

Ch Insp Heather Keating said: "This is a tragic, isolated incident and I want to reassure the local community that officers will be patrolling the village over the coming days."
