Award-winning company goes bust

A building firm that employs about 40 people in Sussex has gone into administration, it has been announced.

Integra Builders said it ran into financial difficulties after it failed to receive £400,000 it was owed from a private developer.

The firm also claimed many of its clients failed to pay their bills on time because of the economic downturn.

It won the Sussex Heritage Trust public and community award for the Yellowave Beach sports centre, Brighton, in 2008.

Ian Vickers of Vantis Business Recovery Services has been appointed administrator of the company.

'Very sorry'

Joe McNulty, from Integra, said: "We are obviously very sad to have to close the business down but we couldn't just keep going after such a financial blow.

"The developer client ran into trouble following the credit crunch and was unable to sell his flats and so was unable to pay Integra.

He added: "We feel very sorry for all the excellent staff and subcontractors who will now be out of work.

"The directors would like to thank them all for their hard work over the past 15 years and wish them well for the future."
