Assaults on four police officers

Four Sussex police officers have been treated in hospital after they were assaulted in two unconnected incidents.

In the first, two female and one male officer suffered concussion, bites and grazes when a man became violent during a report of domestic violence in Hove.

In the second, a male officer suffered a fractured wrist while restraining a man who had become aggressive at the Star and Sailor pub in Brighton.

Police said a man was arrested at the scene of each incident on Monday night.

Ch Supt Paul Pearce said the cases highlighted "the risks that police officers face when they do their job".
