Arsonist captured on club CCTV

CCTV image from Sussex Police
Police released CCTV of a person surrounded by flames

A picture of a man surrounded by flames at a Sussex nightclub has been released by police who have also found petrol cans at the scene of a nightclub fire.

The CCTV image was issued with a fresh appeal for information after the blaze at the Redd nightclub in Burgess Hill.

More than 100 firefighters from Surrey and Sussex tackled the blaze last week.

The CCTV was taken as the fire started at the lap dancing club. Police whoever started it may have suffered smoke inhalation or other effects.

Det Insp Stu Hale said: "We are particularly keen to hear from petrol station operatives who may remember selling full or empty, green or red fuel canisters."

He said the petrol could have been bought "days or hours" before the blaze at about 0200 BST on 15 July.

Nobody should have been in the nightclub at the time and no injuries have been reported.
