Woman is attacked by man in park

A woman was assaulted by a man while she walked through a park in Sussex.

The victim was walking through Preston Park in Brighton in the early hours of Tuesday when a man grabbed her from behind and pulled her to the ground.

The attacker, who ran away when he was disturbed by a dog walker, was said to be white, in his 40s, of medium build, 5ft 8in (1.72m) tall, with blonde hair.

He wore a light blue "post office type" shirt with a red logo on the pocket, and two or three buttons undone.

He was clean shaven with a pale complexion, and also wore navy length blue shorts.

Police believe the man may have been a former Royal Mail employee or someone posing as a postman, and have appealed for any witnesses to the incident, which happened just before 0200 BST, to contact them.
