CCTV appeal after pub burglaries

CCTV images of a man suspected of burgling three pubs in Sussex have been released by police.

The burglaries took place earlier in June at the Hassocks Public House in Hassocks, The Shepherd and Dog in Fulking, and the Red Lion in Handcross. The suspect is described as white, in his mid 30s, around 6ft tall and of thin build, with a long skinny neck, short cropped hair and glasses.

He took cash from each pub, and on two occasions he also stole the pub keys.

'Scaled pole'

The footage was captured on the night of the burglary at Hassocks Public House which happened on Monday 9 June at about 0400 BST.

Police believe the suspect may have scaled a telegraph pole at the front of the building and moved a CCTV camera to prevent it from detecting him.

He then went to the rear of the pub, scaled the side wall, and entered via a flat, but fled after tripping an alarm in the bar area.

Police have asked anyone who recognises the man or has information about the burglaries to contact them.
