A 16-year-old boy has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the death of a teenager in a car crash during a police pursuit.

Matthew Sadler, 17, died and four others were hurt when the car they were travelling in crashed into a wall in Brighton, East Sussex, on 9 February.

Sussex Police said the boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with other motoring offences.

The youth, from Brighton, is to appear before Brighton Youth Court on 20 June.

An investigation into the cause of the crash was launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

Three young men and two young women were in the car when it crashed in the Whitehawk area of Brighton at 0100 GMT.
