Bug outbreak shuts hospital wards

Visitors who feel unwell are being asked to stay away from the hospital

A hospital in Brighton has closed three wards to new admissions after patients came down with a diarrhoea bug.

Twenty people being treated at the Royal Sussex County Hospital have been affected by the infection.

A spokesperson for Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust said it was not known if it was Norovirus, also known as the winter vomiting bug.

The trust said visitors who feel at all unwell should stay away until they have been clear of symptoms for 48 hours.

The wards were closed on Tuesday and the trust said deep cleaning would take place.
