Girl hit by van 'seriously hurt'

A two-year-old girl has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a van in East Sussex.

Police arrested a woman after the incident in Eastbourne on Friday evening. Officers said on Monday she had been bailed pending inquiries.

The child was taken to hospital in London, a police spokesman said.

Appealing for witnesses, he said the girl was hit by a Renault van, at about 1720 BST, in Susans Road, at the junction with Tideswell Road.
