Wooden building destroyed by fire

Firefighters tackle the fire in Thakeham
The fire was believed to have spread from a nearby bonfire

Firefighters battled through the night to put out a blaze in a building used for storing electrical components.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called to the 40m (131ft) timber shed at Oak Farm in Thakeham just after 1800 BST on Wednesday.

The fire was believed to have spread from a nearby bonfire.

Half of the building, which had an asbestos roof, and its contents were completely destroyed and the rest was severely damaged by fire and smoke.

The area was cordoned off by police while nine crews tackled the blaze.

Firefighters remained at the site during the morning to dampen down hotspots.
