Car driver dies after A21 crash

A man has died in hospital after a three-vehicle crash on the A21 in East Sussex, police have said.

Emergency teams were called to the scene of the crash, which involved a car, a van and a goods vehicle, at Hurst Green on Wednesday morning.

The car driver, who was travelling south when the crash happened, was taken with serious injuries to hospital in Hastings, where he later died.

The 52-year-old man from St Leonards has not yet been identified.

The road was closed for about four and a half hours while police examined the scene after the collision, which happened just before 0715 BST.

Appealing for information, Sgt Jon Carter said the crash involved a grey Fiat Marea HLX, a red DAF goods vehicle, and a Vauxhall Vivaro van.
