Roof firm owner on death charge

Darren Hoofe died in hospital a day after he fell on to the factory floor

The owner of a roofing company based in Hailsham, East Sussex, has been charged with the manslaughter of a worker who fell to his death through a skylight.

Darren Hoofe, 20, was carrying out roofing repairs for IC Roofing at the Bellbrook Industrial Estate, Uckfield, when he fell on 29 November 2005.

He died in hospital the next day from head injuries sustained when he fell 20ft on to the factory floor below.

IC boss Colin Cooper is also charged with health and safety offences.
