A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman who went missing more than three months ago.

Sussex Police said a local man was being questioned at Chichester Custody Centre about the disappearance of Elaine Taggart.

Mrs Taggart, 48, a catering manager at Brighton College, was last seen when she gave a colleague a lift home.

Officers and volunteers have searched fields near the married mother-of-two's home in Ferring, West Sussex.

And last month detectives investigating her disappearance said they feared the worst.

Mrs Taggart is described as white, 5ft 6in tall, with a medium build, and dark brown hair.

Repeated appeals from the police and from her family for her to make contact have gone unanswered and she missed Mother's Day and her son's 14th birthday.
