The Hastings Fights video has been removed from YouTube

Police are investigating video footage showing a series of clips of children and young people fighting each other in and around East Sussex seaside towns.

The two-minute film shows a girl being punched to the ground in a gang fight and two boys believed to be in school uniforms trading punches.

The film, thought to have been made in Hastings and St Leonards, was posted on YouTube but has since been removed.

YouTube said it would co-operate with police if it was asked for information.

The video, called Hastings Fights, shows seven scenes edited to a hip hop soundtrack.

A copy has been passed to Sussex Police.

A spokesman said: "We will be viewing the footage in due course to establish whether or not there are any offences which need to be investigated."

YouTube said its rules prohibited content including pornography or gratuitous violence.

"When people see content that they think is inappropriate they can flag it and our staff then review it.

"If the content breaks our terms then we remove it and if a user repeatedly breaks the rules we disable their account."
