An Eastbourne couple are set to travel the world after scooping a £2.3m Lotto jackpot win.

John and Jacqui Pinyoun want to look after their three sons and three grandchildren, and then travel to Australia and New Zealand.

The couple were eating fish and chips on Saturday when their numbers were drawn, and were so excited they put their supper in the bin.

Their three Lucky Dip tickets came from a newsagents in the Sussex town.

"We were so excited we couldn't finish our dinner," Mr Pinyoun, 61, said.

"That evening, I put the ticket in my dressing table drawer, right next to my bed, as I didn't want to let it out of my sight."

He is a branch manager at Parking Building Supplies Ltd in Uckfield, and Mrs Pinyoun works at Goldsmith's jewellers in Eastbourne, but both are now planning to retire.

A treasurer at non-league Eastbourne United FC, Mr Pinyoun said he would not be bankrolling his local club with the winnings.

"I don't think football clubs are a very good investment," he said, at a press conference at the town's five-star Grand Hotel.

And he said the win, totalling £2,367,330, had come at just at the right time for the pair from Langney Point, who married on Valentine's Day 1970.

He said the couple's main priority was to look after their family, but he added: "Now it looks as if we will be able to fulfil our wish list, or Jacqui's wish list I should say."

His wife, 58, said her first request was for new curtains and carpet, along with a top of the range Mini convertible.

The winning numbers were 11, 17, 28, 31, 40, 43, and the bonus ball was 39.
