An 18-year-old man has admitted killing a 15-year-old boy with a martial arts weapon outside a Halloween house party.

Ricky Butler, from Roffey, Horsham, West Sussex, died after being hit with a nunchaku - a weapon of two wooden sticks joined by a chain or rope.

Unemployed Richard Martin, of Heath Way in Horsham, denied murder but admitted manslaughter, which was not accepted by the prosecution at Lewes Crown Court.

He was remanded in custody for trial at the court on 18 August.

Mr Martin also denied wounding a 16-year-old boy.

Ricky had been at a "pimps and prostitutes" fancy dress party at his older brother Steven's flat in Horsham when he was attacked on 3 November 2007.

A second teenager required stitches for head injuries but was discharged from hospital.
